Tired and weary after 20 days of fighting the Japanese on Saipan, these members pf the 2nd Marine Division, veterans of Guadalcanal and Tarawa, move to the rear for a rest. The respite was short-lived and they were back in action to repulse the final Japanese suicide charge and secure the last two miles of the northern tip of the island.
