Guam Explosion
WWII in the Pacific Guam Cave Explosion.jpg
As advancing Marines limited the areas left to the Japanese on Guam, they still managed to form small kernels of resistance in caves and dugouts that ran for nearly a half a mile. Marine engineers used high explosives to blow up the cover but the Japanese immediately opened fire following this photograph. The engineers placed more TNT to silence the fire.
